The trail is primarily used for hiking and bird watching and is best used from July until October. This is a great hike for families with kids. Monica Meadows is one of the most stunning and easily accessible alpine hikes, great for families with kids. Especially beautiful when the flowers are out or in the fall and the larch are blazing yellow. After a moderate hike up, the trail levels out to a gradual incline in the meadows, until the far ridge is reached. Rugged mountains rise above the meadow on both sides. Great views are available in every direction from the ridge. The trail is primarily used for hiking, rock climbing, and bird watching and is best used from July until October. Macbeth Icefield is one of three world class alpine hikes (near Monica Meadows & Jumbo Pass) accessed by the Glacier Creek FSR. The road is gravel and rough, but doesn’t require especially high clearance. The hike starts fairly level through a verdant marsh and mossy subalpine forest before climbing and traversing the steep western side of a huge hanging valley. Towering ribbon falls drop vertically down the eastern wall from the barely visible glacier high above. The trail eventually disappears at a great vantage point. Further scrambling is possible although the glacier itself is not accessible without technical skills.
